植妙因（上承織反鄭注周禮云植謂根生之屬也方言樹植立也說文從木直聲）。

Planting wondrous causes (植妙因; the first character is *cheng* + *zhi* [zhí]; Zheng's commentary on the *Zhouli* says: "植 refers to the class of things rooted in the ground." The *Fangyan* says: "樹 and 植 mean to set up." The *Shuowen jiezi* says it has the wood radical and the *zhí* sound).
