Plucking from fragrant groves (擢芳林; *chong* + *zhuo* [zhuó]; the *Guangya* says: "擢 means to draw out." The *Fangyan* says: "擢 means to pull up." Xu's commentary on the *Huainanzi* says: "擢 means to pull forth." The *Shuowen jiezi* says it has the hand radical and the *zhái* sound; 翟 is pronounced *zhái*).
