臭穢（上醜呪反說文云禽走臭而知其跡者犬也從犬從自自者古鼻字也象形也今俗從死作[自/((餐-食)-又+人)]非也下威衛反字書云穢不清潔也惡也說文從禾歲聲）。

Foul and filthy (chouhui; the upper character is chou-zhou fan. The Shuowen jiezi says: "When wild beasts run, that which sniffs their scent and tracks their trail is the dog. It takes the dog classifier and zi; zi is the ancient character for nose, being a pictogram." Nowadays the vulgar form takes the dead classifier as [自/((餐-食)-又+人)], which is incorrect. The lower character is wei-wei fan. The Zishu says: "Hui means unclean; bad." The Shuowen jiezi says: "It takes the grain classifier and sui as phonetic").
