虛偽（上許魚反虛空也說文從丘虍聲虍音虎孤反下危謂反廣雅偽欺也鄭注周禮云偽假也說文云偽詐也從人為聲也）。

Empty and false (xūwěi; the upper character is xu-yu fan; xu means empty. The Shuowen jiezi says: "It takes the hill classifier and hu as phonetic." Hu has the sound hu-gu fan. The lower character is wei-wei fan. The Guangya says: "Wei means deception." Zheng's commentary on the Rites of Zhou says: "Wei means artificial." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Wei means fraudulent. It takes the person classifier and wei as phonetic").
