垣牆（上遠元反毛詩傳曰垣亦牆也下匠羊反聲類云牆亦垣也尚書曰無敢逾垣牆是也說文垣牆敝也從嗇爿聲也嗇字從來從㐭經中或作墻廧牆竝俗字也）。

垣牆 [low walls and outer walls] (The first character has the fanqie [遠+元] yuán. Mao's commentary on the Shijing says: yuán is also a wall. The second character has the fanqie [匠+羊] qiáng. The Shenglei says: qiáng is also a wall. The Shangshu says: 'Do not dare to scale the yuán and qiáng,' which is this. The Shuowen says: yuán and qiáng are enclosures; it is composed of sè with qiáng phonetic. The character sè is composed of lái with lǐn. In the sūtra it is written variously as 墻, 廧, or 牆, which are all vulgar forms).
