Resting upon the five wheels (藉五輪: the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 寂 + 夜 [jiè]; the *Hanshu* says *jie* (藉) is like relying on or borrowing; it takes the semantic radical 廾. The "five wheels" refers to the left knee, right knee, palm of the left hand, palm of the right hand, and the crown of the head; these are the five wheels. All five places must touch the ground to pay reverent homage with utmost sincerity. Always touching the ground with these five places to revere the Three Jewels, in the future when achieving buddhahood, all five places will manifest marks of thousand-spoked wheels. Ancient character books say this).
