欲渡者撥（煩發反考聲橃謂縛竹木浮之水上也說文亦海中大船也從木發聲也或從舟作𦪑經從竹作筏俗字也）。

欲渡者撥 (fanqie 煩 + 發; the Kaosheng states: "A raft (橃) means binding bamboo or timber to float on water." The Shuowen jiezi also states: "A large sea vessel; derived from 木 with 發 as phonetic." Alternatively, it is written with 舟 as 𦪑; the sūtra text writes it with 竹 as 筏, which is a vulgar character).
