嗟慨（上借邪反毛詩傳云嗟者美之也爾雅咨嗟也說文嗟從口差聲下開愛反鄭箋毛詩云慨謂歎息也說文忨慨壯士不得志也從心既聲或從氣作愾有從口作嘅俗字也）。

嗟慨 (the first character: fanqie 借 + 邪; the Mao Commentary on the Shijing states: "嗟 means to praise." The Erya states: "To sigh or exclaim." The Shuowen jiezi states: "Derived from 口 with 差 as phonetic." The second character: fanqie 開 + 愛; Zheng Xuan's subcommentary on the Shijing states: "慨 means to sigh." The Shuowen jiezi states: "忨慨 means a gallant person failing to attain his ambition; derived from 心 with 既 as phonetic." Or written with 气 as 愾; writing it with 口 as 嘅 is a vulgar character).
