統攝（上他貢反考聲云統領也緒也古今正字云統紀也從糸音覓糸者細絲也充聲也下施葉反考聲云兼統也斂也說文云引持也從扌音手聶泥涉反聲也）。

統攝 ("to integrate and control"): The first character has the fanqie reading [t- + -uŋ = tong] (他貢反). The Kaosheng says: "統 means to command and lead; a guideline." The Gujin zhengzi says: "統 means a regular system (紀). It is formed with the radical 糸 (pronounced mì; 糸 means fine silk thread) and 充 as phonetic." The second character has the fanqie reading [ɕ- + -jɛp = shè] (施葉反). The Kaosheng says: "攝 means to integrate; to collect." The Shuowen says: "It means to draw together and hold. It is formed with the radical 扌 (pronounced shǒu, 'hand') and 聶 (fanqie 泥涉反) as phonetic."
