熱痰（上然折反考聲云熱暑也釋名云爇而悅反如火燒爇也說文云熱溫也從火埶音爇聲也下唐藍反考聲云胷膈中水病集訓亦云胷中水病也古今正字云從疒女厄反從談省聲也）。

熱痰 ("feverish phlegm"): The first character has the fanqie reading [ʐ- + -ɛt = rè] (然折反). The Kaosheng says: "熱 means summer heat." The Shiming says: "爇 (fanqie 而悅反) is like being burnt and scorched by fire." The Shuowen says: "熱 means warm. It is formed with the radical 火 ('fire') and 埶 (pronounced ruò) as phonetic." The second character has the fanqie reading [d- + -ɑm = tán] (唐藍反). The Kaosheng says: "Phlegm-fluid disease in the chest and diaphragm." The Jixun also says: "Phlegm-fluid disease in the chest." The Gujin zhengzi says: "It is formed with the radical 疒 (fanqie 女厄反) and an abbreviated form of 談 as phonetic."
