不憚 ("not shrinking from": [fanqie] 唐爛 [dàn]. Zheng's commentary on the Mao Commentary to the Classic of Poetry says: "To fear difficulty." Han's Commentary to the Classic of Poetry says: "To loathe." Guangya says: "To be alarmed." The ancient script writes it as 𢠸, with the same meaning and gloss. Shuowen says: "Dàn means to dread illness." It is composed of 心 with 單 as the phonetic.)
