襁褓（上姜仰反包咸注論語云負者以器曰襁博物志云織縷為之廣八寸長丈二尺以約小兒於背上也說文負兒衣也從衣強聲下音保義根本有部律第十三卷中已具釋）。

襁褓 (The first syllable is *qiǎng* [jiang + yang fanqie]. Bao Xian's commentary on the Lunyu says: "Those carrying [infants] with an apparatus call it a 襁 (*qiǎng*)." The Bowuzhi says: "Woven from threads, eight inches wide and one zhang two chi long, used to bind an infant to the back." The Shuowen jiezi says: "Clothing for carrying a child; it is formed with 'clothing' (衣) and 強 as the phonetic component." The second syllable is pronounced *bǎo*; the meaning was already explained in detail in the thirteenth fascicle of the Mūlasarvāstivāda-vinaya).
