鑒面（上監陷反毛詩云我心匪鑒也傳云鑒所以察形也左傳云鑒謂之鏡也杜注云戒也察也說文鑒可以取明水於月也從金臨聲）。

鑒面 'looking into a mirror' (the first character is fanqie 監陷; the Mao Shijing says: 'My heart is not a mirror'; the commentary says: 'A mirror is that by which one inspects one's appearance'; the Zuozhuan says: 'A mirror (鑒) is called a looking-glass (鏡)'; Du [Yu's] commentary says: 'to examine, to inspect'; the Shuowen jiezi says: 'A metal mirror can gather bright dew from the moon; it is formed from the metal [radical] with 臨 phonetic').
