柁折（上陀箇反釋名云舩尾曰柁也正舩不使他戾也文字典說云舩後正舩木也從木它聲也它音陀律文作柁是車柁字非舩柁字也下善熱反）。

柁折 'the rudder breaks' (the first character is fanqie 陀箇; the Shiming says: 'the stern of a boat is called 柁; it rights the boat so that it does not go awry'; the Wenzi dian shuo says: 'the timber at the back of a boat that rights the boat; it is formed from the wood [radical] with 它 phonetic'; 它 has the sound 陀; the Vinaya text writes it as 柁, which is the character for a cart brake, not the character for a boat rudder; the second character is fanqie 善熱).
