Fine wool cloth (𤎥𦇧: the upper character has the fanqie t[ān] + [g]ǎn. The treatise text writes 䋬, which is incorrect. The Kaosheng says: 'A colour between blue-green and white', but that is not this meaning. The Han Commentary on the Shijing says: 'Fine-wool clothing is like tǎn.' The character is also written as 㲭. The Kaosheng says: '㲭 is woven from wool, produced in Tibet (Tufan).' The Gujin zhengzi says: 'It takes bó as radical and yán as phonetic; the character is also written as 𦃖, or as 菼.' The writing with máo as radical as 㲜 has been in vulgar circulation for some time, so both explanations are recorded and preserved. The lower character has the fanqie f[án] + [l]ì. Character dictionaries standardly write 𦇧; the treatise text writes 𦋺, which is an abbreviated form. The Kaosheng says: '𦇧 is fine-wool fabric of western countries.' The Erya says: 'Máo is 𦇧.' The Gujin zhengzi says: 'Woollen brocade of the Western Rong; it takes mì as radical and jì as phonetic.' Jì has the same sound as above. Cuì has the fanqie chuī + ruì; máo has the sound lí).
