脯腊（上膚武反鄭注周禮云乾肉也薄析之日脯考聲云膊肉乾肉也從肉甫聲膊音普博反下音昔腊亦脯也賈注國語云腊久也說文侍腊亦乾肉也從殘肉日以晞之今時用從肉昔聲也或作焟在火部）。

Dried and preserved meats (脯腊: the upper character has the fanqie f[ū] + [w]ǔ; Zheng's commentary on the Zhouli says: 'Dried meat; thinly sliced, it is called fǔ.' The Kaosheng says: 'Thin strips of meat, dried meat; it takes ròu as radical and fǔ as phonetic.' Bó has the fanqie pǔ + bó. The lower character is sounded xī; là is also dried meat. Jia's commentary on the Guoyu says: 'Là means preserved long.' The Shuowen says: 'Shìlà is also dried meat; it takes stripped meat dried in the sun; nowadays it is used with ròu as radical and xī as phonetic'; it is also written as 焟 under the fire radical).
