繽紛（上匹賓反下芳分反考聲云繽紛亂也字書云繽紛眾多皃也集訓云繽紛盛皃並從糸昔覓賓分皆聲也經中賓字從尸作賓者非也）。

Tumultuous and profusely scattered (繽紛): The upper character has the fanqie pi + bin (bīn); the lower character has the fanqie fang + fen (fēn). The Kaosheng says: ‘Bīnfēn means chaotic and disorderly.’ The Zishu says: ‘Bīnfēn describes a multitude.’ The Jixun says: ‘Bīnfēn describes an abundant appearance.’ Both take the silk radical (糸); xī (昔), mì (覓), bīn (賓), and fēn (分) are phonetic. In the sūtras, when the character bīn takes ‘corpse’ (尸) as 賓, it is incorrect.
