睥睨（上普計反倪計反禮記脾睨視之猶以為遠也說文邪視也從目卑兒皆聲也經從人作俾倪非之也）。

Glance askance [睥睨] (the first character is pronounced *pu* + *ji* [pì]; [the second is pronounced] *ni* + *ji* [nì]. The *Liji* states: 'Looking at it with a squinting glance [睥睨], they still considered it distant.' The *Shuowen* states: 'To look askance; both take "eye" [目] as semantic classifier and have *bei* [卑] and *er* [兒] as phonetic components.' In the sūtra it is written with "person" [人] as 俾倪, which is incorrect).
