憺怕（上談濫反顧野王云怡靜也王逸注楚辭云憺安也許叔重注淮南子云足也說文從心詹聲下怕音普伯反廣雅伯靜也考聲心安靜也說文無為也從心白聲經文並從水作澹淡錯書也非也）。

憺怕 (The *fanqie* for the upper character is [d]- + [lɑm] (談濫反). Gu Yewang says: 'Joyful and tranquil.' Wang Yi's commentary on the *Chuci* says: '憺 means at peace.' Xu Shuzhong's commentary on the *Huainanzi* says: 'Contented.' The *Shuowen jiezi* states that it is categorized under the radical 心 (mind) with 詹 phonetic. The pronunciation of the lower character 怕 is the *fanqie* [pʰ]- + [pɐk̚] (普伯反). The *Guangya* states: '伯 means tranquil.' The *Kaosheng* states: 'The mind is peaceful and tranquil.' The *Shuowen jiezi* states: 'Non-action (*wuwei*).' It is categorized under the radical 心 (mind) with 白 phonetic. The sūtra text writes both with the radical 水 (water) as 澹淡, which is an error and incorrect).
