蛇蠆（上音虵正體虵字下丑介反毛詩蠆螫虫也或作蠇文字典說蜂蠆有毒蝎也從虫苗非是苗乃古文象形）。

蛇蠆 (The first character has the sound 虵 [shé], which is the standard form of 虵. The second character has the fanqie 丑介 [chài]. The Mao Shijing says: "A 蠆 is a stinging insect; sometimes written as 蠇." The Wenzi dianshuo says: "Wasps and scorpions are venomous stinging insects; composed of 虫 and 苗 is incorrect, for 苗 is actually an ancient pictograph").
