𧬊喝辯（上先賫反考聲語而聲悲也說文悲聲也從言斯聲也經從口作嘶俗字也埤蒼嘶者聲散也下⺄芥反考聲云聲噎也廣雅嘶喝聲之幽細也字書或作𡀽或作𣣶皆古字也）。

A hoarse and choked voice (𧬊喝辯: the first character is pronounced 先 + 賫 fanqie; Kaosheng says: speaking with a sorrowful voice; Shuowen says: a sorrowful voice; it takes yan [言] as its classifier and 斯 as its phonetic; the sūtra writing it with kou [口] as 嘶 is a popular character; Picang says: 嘶 means dispersed voice; the second character is pronounced ⺄ + 芥 fanqie; Kaosheng says: a choked voice; Guangya says: 嘶喝 means the dim and faint sound of a voice; character books also write it as 𡀽 or as 𣣶, all of which are ancient characters).
