扼捥 (the first character is *y[īng]-gé* fanqie; the *Guangya* says: “*È* (扼) means to hold.” Zheng Xuan's commentary on the *Funeral Attire Commentary* says: “Filling the hand is called *è* (㧖).” The *Shuowen jiezi* says: “*È* is like grasping. It is composed of ‘hand’ (手) with *è* (戹) as phonetic.” 戹 is pronounced *è*. The correct form is written as [搕-去+?], or also written as 搹; both sound and meaning are the same. The catalogue writes it as 扼, which is a vulgar character. The second character is *w[ān]-huàn* fanqie; Yang Xiong says: “*Wǎn* (捥) means to grip.” The *Shuowen jiezi* says it is composed of ‘hand’ (手) with *wǎn* (宛) as phonetic).
