椰子（野嗟反字指云椰子南方果木名也出交阯廣州其名曰椰木十丈葉在其末實如巨瓠療飢止渴聲類亦云果名也其子𣪊堪為器樹皮可為索甚堅牢從木形聲字）。

椰子 (野嗟 fanqie. The Zizhi says: “The coconut [yēzi] is the name of a southern fruit tree. Produced in Jiaozhi and Guangzhou, its name is coconut [椰]. The tree is one hundred feet high, with leaves at its crown and fruit like large gourds; it alleviates hunger and quenches thirst.” The Shenglei also says: “The name of a fruit; its husk can be made into vessels, and its bark into cordage, which is very strong.” It has the radical 木 and is a phono-semantic character).
