琳琅 (The first syllable has the fanqie 力金 [lín]. Kong [Anguo's] commentary to the Shangshu says: "琳 [lín] is the name of a precious jade." The second syllable has the fanqie 洛當 [láng]. Kong [Anguo's] commentary to the Shangshu says: "琅玕 [lánggān] is a gem-like stone resembling pearls." The Shuowen jiezi says it takes 玉 [yù] as semantic, with 林 [lín] and 良 [liáng] as phonetics. In common texts written as 瑯, it is a vulgar character.)
