溝洫（上古侯反下撝域反周禮鄭注云溝洫者所以通水於川也溝廣四尺深四尺洫廣八尺深八尺也說文云溝洫二字並從水冓音覯血皆聲也）。

Channels and ditches (溝洫; the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 古侯, and the second with the fanqie 撝域. Zheng's commentary to the Zhouli says: "溝 and 洫 are that through which water is channeled into streams. A 溝 is four chi wide and four chi deep; a 洫 is eight chi wide and eight chi deep." The Shuowen says: "The two characters 溝 and 洫 both take the radical 水, with 冓 (sounded 覯) and 血 both as phonetic").
