馳騖（上直離反字書亦作駝顧野王云駝走也廣雅云奔也說文云駝大驅也從馬它聲也它音駄何反下無輔反郭注穆天子傳云騖驅也顧野王云疾馳也楚辭云忽馳騖以追逐也說文云騖虬馳也從馬敄聲也敄音同上）。

馳騖 (the first character has the fanqie: 直 + 離 [chí]). Character dictionaries also write it as 駝. Gu Yewang says: 'Tuó means running.' The Guangya says: 'To sprint.' The Shuowen says: 'Tuó means to gallop vigorously.' It takes 馬 as radical and 它 as phonetic; 它 has the fanqie 駄 + 何 [tuó]. The second character has the fanqie: 無 + 輔 [wù]. Guo's commentary on the Mu tianzi zhuan says: 'Wù means to gallop.' Gu Yewang says: 'To gallop swiftly.' The Chuci says: 'Suddenly racing and galloping to pursue.' The Shuowen says: 'Wù means galloping vigorously.' It takes 馬 as radical and 敄 as phonetic; 敄 has the same pronunciation as above.
