麤歰（上怱胡反說文從三鹿會意字也今省麤顧野王云麤謂不善也鄭注禮記云麤猶不精也下森戢反說文從四止二正二倒書亦會意字也傳文作歰非也）。

麤歰 (The first character has the fanqie phonetic spelling 怱 [cōng] + 胡 [hú], [cū]. The Shuowen says: "It is an associative compound character composed of three 鹿 [deer]." Nowadays it is abbreviated as 麤. Gu Yewang says: "'Cū' means not fine." Zheng Xuan's commentary to the Liji says: "'Cū' is like unrefined." The second character has the fanqie phonetic spelling 森 [sēn] + 戢 [jí], [sè]. The Shuowen says: "It is written with four 止 [foot], two upright and two inverted; it is also an associative compound character." In the text of the biography it is written as 歰, which is incorrect).
