呻噤（上失人反鄭玄注禮記云呻吟也說文從口申聲下琴禁反楚辭云噤閉而不言王逸注楚詞云閉口也古今正字呻噤二字並從口申禁亦聲也）。

Groaning and speechless (呻噤) (the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 失人 [shī + rén -> shēn]; Zheng Xuan's commentary to the Liji says: '呻 means groaning'; the Shuowen says it is composed of the mouth radical (口) with 申 phonetic; the second character is pronounced with the fanqie 琴禁 [qín + jìn -> jìn]; the Chuci says: '噤 closed mouth and did not speak'; Wang Yi's commentary to the Chuci says: '噤 means keeping the mouth shut'; the Gujin zhengzi states that both characters 呻 and 噤 are composed of the mouth radical (口) with 申 and 禁 respectively phonetic).
