擾亂 (The upper character is pronounced 如 + 沼 [*rǎo*]. The *Shuowen* says: 'Takes the semantic classifier 手 and 憂 as its phonetic component.' 憂 is pronounced 奴 + 高 [*nào*]. In the sūtra text it is written with 憂 [*yōu*], which is incorrect. The lower character is pronounced 樂 + 段 [*luàn*]. The *Erya* says: '亂 means to govern.' The *Kaosheng* says: 'Troubled; confused.' The *Shuowen* says: 'Takes the semantic classifier 乙 and 𤔔 as phonetic component.' 𤔔 has the same pronunciation as above; it is composed of 爪, 幺, and 𱏻. Furthermore, Li Si wrote it with 寸 as 𱚢. The *Zilin* writes it with 攴 as 𢿢. Vulgar usage writes it as 乱; the ancient form was [采-木+(一/(戀-心+十))]. 幺 is pronounced 腰 [*yāo*]; 𱏻 is pronounced 癸 + 營 [*kuí*]).
