吠舍 (Vaiśya: Formerly called 毘舍, which was erroneous. All are immensely wealthy and have abundant assets, having access to the noble and exalted. They travel to trade commodities, traverse foreign lands, amass wealth and capital, and keep precious treasures in their households. Some are called elders (śreṣṭhin), while others are enfeoffed with city titles).
