Shànchà bànzéjiā 扇侘半擇迦 (ṣaṇḍha-paṇḍaka; chà is pronounced with the fanqie chǒu + jiā, and jiā is pronounced with the fanqie jiāng + qū. Sanskrit. In the Tang language it means 'eunuch' [huangmen], namely those whose male faculties are incomplete. There are five types: 1. Born naturally without male faculties, or if having them, being tiny like an infant's and unable to perform sexual acts; 2. Although originally having faculties, the external testicles have been completely removed, so that even if performing sexual acts they cannot father children; 3. Upon seeing others performing sexual acts or seeing female faculties and dwelling mentally on desire, the male faculty emerges, but when not seeing them it retracts into the abdomen like a female; 4. Being male for half a month and female for half a month; 5. Originally male, but gradually deteriorating and transforming into an impotent person. These are the five types, all termed eunuchs [huangmen]).
