餚饌 (Viands and delicacies: The first character [餚], pronounced *xiao* + *jiao* [yáo]. The *Shuowen* has it simply as 肴: 'To eat; composed of 肉 [meat] with 㕛 as phonetic.' The sūtra text writes it with 食 as 餚, which is a vulgar character. The second character [饌], pronounced *chuang* + *lian* [zhuàn]. The *Yunying* states: '饌 means prepared food.' The *Shuowen* has the standard graph as 饌, an ancient graph; a phonogram).
