懇惻 (Earnest and sorrowful: The ancient graph is the same as 記, pronounced *kou* + *hen* [kěn]. The *Tongsu wen* states: 'Utmost sincerity is called 懇; 懇 means truthfulness; it also means firm forbearance.' The second character's ancient graph is the same as 測, pronounced *chu* + *li* [cè].
