Hook and bait (鉤餌: the upper character [鉤] is pronounced gou-hou fan; the Kaosheng says: "鉤 means to catch; to bend; to pull." Gu Yewang says: "鉤 means a hook." The Shuowen says: "Takes 金 as semantic and 句 as phonetic." The lower character [餌] is pronounced er-zhi fan; the Cang Jie pian says: "餌 means food." The Da Dai Liji says: "The bait captured by eagles, falcons, fish, and turtles." The Shuowen says: "Takes 食 as semantic and 耳 as phonetic").
