燖去（上祥簷反考聲云燂煑也謂以湯沃毛令脫也說文云從火覃聲也經文作燖俗字也正作[(((嘹-口)-小)-日+干)*(大/火)]古文作[(夕/火)*(ㄆ/火)]今人罕用）。

Scalding away [hair] (燖去: the first character has the fanqie 祥簷 [xián]. The Kaosheng says: "燂 means to boil; it refers to pouring hot water over hair or feathers to make them come off." The Shuowen says: "Formed from 火 (fire) with 覃 as the phonetic component." In the sūtra text it is written as 燖, which is a popular character; the standard form is [(((嘹-口)-小)-日+干)*(大/火)], and the ancient script writes it as [(夕/火)*(ㄆ/火)], which people today rarely use).
