刵耳（上而志反孔注尚書云刵截耳也廣雅亦云截耳也說文云斷耳也從刀耳聲也）。

Cutting off the ears (刵耳: the first character has the fanqie 而志 [èr]. Kong's commentary on the Book of Documents says: "刵 means to cut off the ears." The Guangya also says: "To cut off the ears." The Shuowen says: "To cut off the ears." It is formed from 刀 (knife) with 耳 as the phonetic component).
