刵耳（而志反孔注尚書云刵截耳也廣雅截也說文斷耳也從刀耳聲）。

刵耳 (cutting off ears: [the upper character] has the fanqie er + zhi. Kong's commentary on the Shangshu says: "Er (刵) means severing the ears." The Guangya says: "To cut off." The Shuowen says: "To sever the ears." It is formed with the "knife" semantic classifier and the er (耳) phonetic component).
