作鐆（下隨醉反左傳云風駕出鐆杜注云取火具也淮南子云陽鐆見日則熯而為火也說文云從金隊聲經文作燧或作㸂皆俗字乃候望之烽火也非經用熯音然善反）。

To make a burning-mirror (作鐆) (The second [character] has the fanqie suí + zuì [suì]. The Zuozhuan states: 'Wind mounts and brings forth the burning-mirror.' Du [Yu]'s commentary states: 'It is an implement for gathering fire.' The Huainanzi states: 'When the solar burning-mirror sees the sun, it ignites and produces fire.' The Shuowen states: 'It derives from metal (金) with the phonetic duì (隊).' In the sūtra text it is written as 燧 or as 㸂, which are both popular characters, denoting the signal fires of watchposts; they are not what is used in the sūtra. 熯 has the fanqie rán + shàn [hàn]).
