墋𡹆（上楚錦反砂墋不可服說文從土參聲參從彡音衫經文從小作㕘謬也又從石作磣俗字𡹆字說文從屮音丑列反屮草也云草初生有𡹆也）。

Gritty / coarse (墋𡹆) (The first [character] has the fanqie chǔ + jǐn [chěn]. Sand is gritty and cannot be ingested. The Shuowen states: 'It derives from earth (土) with the phonetic shēn (參).' Shēn derives from shān (彡) and has the sound shān. In the sūtra text it is written with small (小) as 㕘, which is an error. It is also written with stone (石) as 磣, which is a popular character. As for the character 𡹆, the Shuowen states: 'It derives from sprout (屮), with the fanqie chǒu + liè [chè]. 屮 means grass.' It states: 'When grass first sprouts, it has coarse unevenness (𡹆)').
