麤獷（上倉孤反切韻疏也大也字統云鹿之性相背而食虞人獸害之故從三鹿俗省作麁義同下古猛反切韻大也字書云猛也說文云從犬廣聲又音俱永反）。

麤獷 (The first character has the fanqie cang + gu. The Qieyun says: 'Coarse; large.' The Zitong says: 'The nature of deer is to feed back-to-back, and foresters harm them; hence it derives from three "deer".' Popularly abbreviated as 麁, with the same meaning. The second character has the fanqie gu + meng. The Qieyun says: 'Large.' Dictionaries say: 'Fierce.' The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It derives from "dog" with the phonetic guang.' It also has the pronunciation ju + yong).
