髓惱（上雖柴說文骨中脂也從骨隨省聲下能老反文字集略云頭中髓也說文[匕*(巢-果+(离-禸))]字從匕從囟囟音信小兒𡍗會也從巛巛像髮上謂相上著也今經作腦字或作[腮-田+(囟-乂+夕)]𦠊腦𰈐𱟈五形皆訛謬字也）。

髓惱 (for the first character, [suǐ], fanqie 雖柴 [s- + -iɛ = sie/suǐ]. The Shuowen says: “Fat within the bones. It takes 骨 as radical and an abbreviated 隨 as phonetic.” For the second character, [nǎo], fanqie 能老 [n- + -ɑu = nɑu/nǎo]. The Wenzi jilüe says: “Marrow in the head.” In the Shuowen the character 𡍗 takes 匕 and 囟; 囟 is pronounced 信, the fontanelle of an infant. It takes 巛, which depicts hair on top, meaning adjoining the head above. In the present sūtra it is written as 腦, or as [腮-田+(囟-乂+夕)], 𦠊, 腦, 𰈐, or 𱟈; all five forms are corrupt errors.)
