船撥（上述緣反方言云自關而西謂舟為船說文船舟也從舟沿省聲下煩靺反考聲云縛竹木浮於水上集訓云木橃也或作筏栰俗謬也古作𦪑字）。

船撥 (for the first character, [chuán], fanqie 述緣 [ʑ- + -iuɛn = ʑiuɛn/chuán]. The Fangyan says: “West of the Pass, boats (舟) are called 船.” The Shuowen says: “船 means a boat (舟). It takes 舟 as radical and an abbreviated 沿 as phonetic.” For the second character, [bō], fanqie 煩靺 [b- + -uɑt = buɑt/bō]. The Kaosheng says: “Bamboo or wood bound together floating on water.” The Jixun says: “A wooden raft (橃).” Sometimes written 筏 or 栰, which are vulgar errors; anciently written 𦪑.)
