塢波塞迦（上烏古反舊云優婆塞新云鄔波索迦鄔波此云近迦此云事索即男聲也即近事男也謂親近承事三寶者故云）。

塢波塞迦 (The first character has the fanqie *wu* + *gu* [wu]. The older transcription is *upāsaka* (優婆塞); the new transcription is *upāsaka* (鄔波索迦). *Upa* means 'approaching' or 'close'; *kā* means 'serving'; *sa* indicates the masculine gender: thus 'a man who attends closely'—meaning one who closely approaches and serves the Three Jewels.)
