竦竪（上息栱反爾雅曰竦懼也切韻敬也顧野王云上也跳也國語云竦善抑惡也下又作豎同臣庾反庾音以主反玉篇立也又童僕之未冠者）。

Terrified and erect (竦竪: the upper character has the fanqie *xī* + *gǒng* [sǒng]; the *Erya* says, "*Sǒng* means fearful." The *Qieyun* says, "Respectful." Gu Yewang says, "To rise; to leap." The *Guoyu* says, "*Sǒng* means to promote goodness and suppress evil." The lower character is also written as 豎, both with the fanqie *chén* + *yǔ* [shù]; *yǔ* has the fanqie *yǐ* + *zhǔ* [yǔ]; the *Yupian* says, "To stand erect; also, an un-capped boy servant").
