聾瞎（上魯東反說文云耳不通也從耳龍聲經文作聾不成字下呼八反字書云目不見物也又云一眼無睛也從目害省聲字）。

Deaf and blind (聾瞎: the upper character has the fanqie *lǔ* + *dōng* [lóng]; the *Shuowen* says, "The ears not being unobstructed." It is categorized under "ear" with *lóng* phonetic. In the text of the sūtra it is written as 聾, which is not a properly formed character. The lower character has the fanqie *hū* + *bā* [xiā]; character glossaries say, "The eye unable to see objects." They also say, "One eye without a pupil." It is categorized under "eye" with an abbreviated *hài* phonetic).
