蚊蝱（上勿分反字統云蚊齧人飛蟲也說文作蟁以昬時而出也故從䖵音昆昬省聲經文從文蚊俗字下孟彭反聲類云蝱以蠅而大說文亦齧人飛蟲也從䖵亡聲也經文作䗈非也）。

Mosquitoes and gadflies (蚊蝱: the upper character has the fanqie *wù* + *fēn* [wén]; the *Zitong* says, "The mosquito is a flying insect that bites people." The *Shuowen* writes it as 蟁, [explaining] that it comes out at dusk, hence it is categorized under "insects" (*kūn*) with an abbreviated *hūn* phonetic; in the sūtra text it is written with *wén*, which is a popular form. The lower character has the fanqie *mèng* + *péng* [méng]; the *Shenglei* says, "The *méng* is larger than a fly." The *Shuowen* also says, "A flying insect that bites people." It is categorized under "insects" with *wáng* phonetic; in the sūtra text it is written as 䗈, which is incorrect).
