Twisting together (撚成: the upper character has the fanqie *nián* + *diǎn* [niǎn]; the *Fangyan* says, "To join together." Gu Yewang says, "It means connecting to each other." The *Shuowen* says it is categorized under "hand" with *rán* phonetic. The lower character has the fanqie *shì* + *zhēng* [chéng]; the *Qieyun* says, "To complete; to accomplish." The *Shuowen* says it is categorized under *wù* with *dīng* phonetic).
