警寤（上居影反考聲云警戒也說文云寤也字書云覺察也禮記云將上堂其聲揚鄭注謂警內人也下吾放反說文云寤覺也從𮄥省吾聲也律文作驚說文馬逸也作窹楚人謂竈也並非警窹字也）。

警寤 (Alert and awake: for the first character, fanqie 居影 [jǐng], the Kaosheng says: 'To warn and caution.' The Shuowen says: 'To awaken.' The character book says: 'To perceive and examine.' The Liji says: 'When about to ascend the hall, his voice should be raised'; Zheng's commentary explains this as warning the people inside. For the second character, fanqie 吾放 [wù], the Shuowen says: '寤 means to awaken from sleep; it is formed from an abbreviated 𮄥 with 吾 phonetic.' The vinaya text writes 驚; the Shuowen says this means a horse bolting. It also writes 窹; people of Chu use this to mean a stove. Neither is the character for 警寤.)
