【憍梵鉢提】或云憍梵波提、伽梵婆提、笈房鉢底，此翻牛呞。《法華疏》云：「昔五百世曾為牛王。牛若食後，常事虛哨，餘報未夷，時人稱為牛呞。」《楞嚴》云：「於過去世，輕弄沙門，世世生生有牛呞病。」爾雅作齝，與呞同。郭璞云：「食之已久，復出嚼之。」亦翻牛王，又翻牛相。

[Gavāmpati] Also called Jiaofanpoti, Jiafanpoti, or Jifangbadi; this translates as Cattle Ruminating. The Fahua shu says: 'In the past, for five hundred lifetimes, he was once a bull king. After eating, cattle constantly engage in chewing empty air; his remaining retribution was not yet eradicated, so the people of the time called him Cattle Ruminating.' The Śūraṅgama says: 'In a past lifetime, he slighted and mocked a śramaṇa, and life after life he suffered from the affliction of cattle ruminating.' The Erya writes [the character as] 齝, which is the same as 呞 (chewing the cud). Guo Pu says: 'Having eaten long ago, he regurgitates and chews it again.' It also translates as Bull King, and also as Bull Likeness.
