【竺法蘭】中印度人。少而機悟，淹雅博愛，多通禪思，妙窮毘尼。誦經百餘萬言，學徒千餘。居不求安，常懷弘利，戒軌嚴峻，眾莫能窺。遇愔求請，便有輕舉之志，而國主不聽。密與騰同來，間行後至，共譯《四十二章》。騰卒，自譯五經。

【Dharmaratna】A native of Central India. From an early age he was perceptive, elegant, erudite, and loving; he was widely versed in Chan contemplation and exquisitely fathomed the Vinaya. He recited more than a million words of scriptures and had over a thousand disciples. In his dwelling he did not seek comfort, always cherishing the vast benefiting of others; his discipline and rules were strict and lofty, beyond the measure of the ordinary crowd. Meeting with Yin's earnest invitation, he harbored the intention to set forth lightly, but the ruler of his state would not permit it. He secretly traveled with Mātaṅga, taking secluded paths and arriving later, together translating the Scripture in Forty-Two Sections. After Mātaṅga died, he translated five scriptures on his own.
